In an era of increasing environmental
and safety consciousness, powder coating is fast becoming the favoured
alternative to traditional methods of metal substrate coating. Powder
coatings also offer superior performance, appearance, and durability when
compared with their liquid paint counterparts.
Powder coating
is a paint
application consisting of fine dry powder pigment and
resin. It is applied electro-statically to metal parts and
heated to a temperature of about 400°F. The powder reacts at
this high temperature, resulting in a beautifully smooth, highly
durable finish. Powder coating is also a more
environmentally-friendly choice because it eliminates the need for an
evaporating liquid paint carrier and cleaning solvents.
Our powder coating process
is accomplished by first grounding the metal parts using our custom hanging
methods. We then chemically clean the parts, etching non-ferrous metals
while conversion-coating ferrous metals. We then rinse and dry off the
parts. The powder, which is a combination of finely ground pigments and
resins, is then electro-statically sprayed onto the part. By controlling
electrical potential, air pressure and mixture ratios, a consistent final
finish is ensured. Finally, the parts enter a high-temperature curing oven
where the thermally reactive powder coating sets and cures. The result of this
process is an attractive, durable, corrosion-resistant and
